Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

Gina, Heidi, Kerry, and me at EFY (especially for youth) in 1994, or so.
Last week I had the RARE opportunity to get away from the kids for a few days (Thanks Grandpa and Grandma Moore!) and play with some girlfriends. Okay, I also got to spend a wonderful day with my hubby, which was great. But there is something about getting together with a bunch of girls for some care-free, kid-free, frolicking, foot-loose, non-diet, craving-frenzied, nothing-held-back, stress-free, unperturbed, easy-going, and jolly good times that is so refreshing and fun. We went to Park City, Utah and stayed at the Westgate hotel. Our activities included shopping, eating, talking, shopping, eating, talking, shopping, eating, sleeping (a little), exchanging gift bags, going on a ski lift scenic ride, cooking (a little), eating, watching movies, crying (a little), swimming, and of course eating and talking, and laughing (a lot.) Gina, Kerry, and Heidi are friends that I know will be my friends for a lifetime. I can share anything with them. Our personalities probably couldn't get much different, but we share a bond that is unlike any I've had with anyone else. It was amazing to me that even though a couple of us had barely seen each other, it felt almost like we had never been apart. Sometimes it's hard to believe how much we've all been through in the last 12 years.

Hopefully Kerry will get me her pics soon and I will be able to add them on. We're trying to figure out a way that we can do this more often. It just worked out so perfectly that we were all going to be close to the same area at the same time this year. And that no one had a newborn or was overly pregnant (Gina's due in November.) So did I miss the kids? Ya, a little. I could have spent one more night away, but opted to drive to see them on the last day of our trip. I was glad of that decision until BJ didn't sleep for half of that night. The trip home was a bit frazzling as well since it was just me and the kids. We made it, however, and I did get the bonus of going waterskiing with Miah (Russell's brother) when we stopped in Nampa to stay with them.

Oh, and another great bonus of this trip, thanks to my marvelous and talented husband, --my new kitchen floor he put in while I was gone. It was hard to get good pics because the trim is not done, and the cabinets don't have doors still (I didn't want to show pics of the inside of my messy cupboards), but here is a preview:

The entryway

the kitchenIt's a cork tile floor. If you had seen the floor before, you could appreciate the improvement. We are now in the middle of about 15 projects. I can't wait for the bathroom to be done. I enjoy the projects sometimes, but they can get expensive and time-consuming for sure. Well, I guess that will keep us busy for the summer. I just need to find some things to keep the kids busy so they don't drive me crazy!

Yay! That was sooo much fun! It was so good to see all of you and to reconnect. We really need to be serious about planning something like this more often for sure! It was the best!

agenen@hotmail.commarisa,
i absolutely loved seeing you during your girls getaway. you may not think you have changed so much (and none of the marisa i remember from forever ago had changed) but there was something so wonderful and mature about you that i even mentioned it to heidi. i told her that i saw a depht in you that was amazing. something that most women dont get till they are well into their middle ages. i guess when you have life changing experiences you just grow up a little faster and your life perspective changes for good.
you are wonderful!
ilove you
