My "Little grown-up"

I'm a lion!

I don't want my picture taken right now, but my skirt is on over my pants.

This swimsuit apron makes me a princess. doesn't it?

Sissy doesn't like being called a "big girl" anymore, she prefers "little grown-up." Potty training is going very well, although we still have some things to work on. I am amazed though that she gets through naps and nighttime without wetting.

I've always let my children dress themselves when they are able, and sometimes that can lead to some interesting outfits or way of wearing clothes. Above are some examples of how Sissy has dressed recently.

Visit back soon for "Ammon's forgetful tooth fairy" and "Yea! No training wheels!"

Diapers or no diapers

So I've done it, I took the plunge, and my #12 thing we are doing for the environment and to save money is using cloth diapers. Thanks to Julie for lending me a bunch of stuff until I can figure out what I want to buy and find a deal. They are definitely more work, but really not so bad. I would definitely recommend starting out in cloth if you're thinking about it-- since it's a little easier with newborns, and because once you're used to the convenience of disposables it's harder to switch. We weren't planning on using cloth for Sissy, but I also forgot to buy diapers. So, we ran out of diapers. I asked her what we were going to do, then kind of helped her come up with "Oh, I'll go on the potty!" So we've been working on it. It's going okay. She has problems with poop. I'm determined to stick with it though. I have nothing to put her in except underwear and a couple of cloth diapers that fit her that we have been using at night.

Last week was a little crazy. I was busy with figuring out cloth diapers for BJ, potty training Sissy, preparing a talk and a RS lesson for Sunday. Plus BJ cut a tooth, Ammon seems to have forgotten how to use the toilet, I have been asked to teach yet another RS lesson, plus have been planning and having scout meetings. Then there was the flat tire day (bike and car). Russ has been extremely busy with work and seminary. So of course my house is one gigantic mess right now, but I am avoiding it for now. I am too tired. I also realized that if I try to blog about everything I never post anything. So one thing at a time. Sleep first.

pardon my venting

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Thanks, I feel better. I don't know what to do with Ammon. He gets so out of control over really minor stuff. Right now he's working on his second hour of screaming over my not letting him climb over the back seat of the van. He screamed all the way home from school, so I told him he needed to calm down by the time he got into the house or no TV for today. So he stayed outside and screamed until he got too cold and came in screaming that I had made him stay outside. So he came downstairs and screamed until I sent him to his room. I checked in on him, and tried to get him to calm down so that I could put BJ down for a nap, but he screamed harder because his head hurt from screaming. Maybe he needs a blog to vent his frustrations....

My thoughts on President Hinckley

I haven't had a chance to share any thoughts on President Hinckley, as life has been a little hectic. When I first heard the news when Russ read it to me from the newspaper on Jan. 28th, I felt a little sad, but, as many other people have expressed, one of my first thoughts was how sweet the reunion with his wife must be. For someone who has spent his life in sincere service of God and man, death at that age comes as a blessing. Perhaps he works just as hard on the other side of the veil, but not in a 97 year old body. He has been the prophet of most of my life, and has been a great example and leader for me. I am very grateful for that.
I tried to listen to the funeral over the internet, but as I had 3 children distracting and it kept cutting out on me, I didn't get to listen to much.
I am excited for the new prophet, President Monson. He has always been one of my favorite speakers at conferences. He said of President Hinckley, “‘Here and there, and now and then, God makes a giant among men.’ President Hinckley was such a giant – a giant of knowledge, of faith, of testimony, of compassion, of vision."

I'm comin' to getcha!

BJ's finally learned how to crawl! He's not very efficient at it, but when he sees something he wants, he can get there pretty quickly. His efforts at crawling are almost always accompanied by a growlish sort of baby noise of the sort that makes you think that he's trying to get into mischief. The down side to the crawling is that he can also sit himself up when he is lying down. This has made getting him to sleep more difficult. If he's not dead tired he sits himself up and won't lay back down-- just screams louder and louder until someone rescues him. He is also pulling up into a standing position and can almost cruise. I don't think the crawling will last long.
Anyway, said child is now trying to get up on the computer chair. I will have to sign off although there is so much more to tell. I think I would blog more, but I spend too much time reading other people's blogs. I enjoy it though!
